Competition for teachers

Creative Teaching Competition for English language teachers ‘English for 2012’
Send us an English lesson plan which integrates online resources from the British Council LearnEnglish (English for 2012) and win a prize: pocket book, free participation in the summer school, free participation in the annual IATEFL Ukraine conference or a Story Sack!

Objectives of the competition
We would like to encourage English language teachers to use modern technologies and resources, including the Internet, and share experience, information and teaching materials.
Terms of the competition
  • The competition is open to teachers of English in Ukraine, regardless of age, experience and type of school.
  • Participation in the competition is free.
  • Each contestant creates an account on http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk and http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en.
  • Contestants submit their applications and lesson plans in MSWord as well as any additional lesson materials by e-mail to Sasha Shalenko at Oleksandr.Shalenko@britishcouncil.org.ua by 30 November 2011.
  • Competition entries must be original and creative.
  • During the competition, entries will be available only to members of the jury.
  • The best plans will be posted on the organisers’ websites and on http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk ELT SharePoint
  • Contestants are responsible for complying with copyright.
  • Competition organisers reserve the right to systematise, lay out and post materials in different formats in compliance with copyright law.
  • Entries submitted after the deadline (November 30) will not be considered.
Requirements to competition entries
  • Each contestant fills out an application form.
  • Each contestant develops a lesson/session plan lasting 45 minutes following the suggested scheme.
  • The format of the plan may be loose but should include the required components listed in the scheme.
  • The lesson should use resources from http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/english-for-2012 website with relevant links in the lesson plan.
  • Each contestant delivers the lesson with their class and writes a reflection on it (maximum 300 words).

Summing up the competition
  • The jury will work from 1 to 10 December 2011.
  • Results will be published on 15 December 2011 on the organisers’ websites.
  • The award ceremony will be announced in due course.
